Stuart Weichsel is an experienced Tax and Trust and Estates attorney.
Stuart’s wide tax experience includes corporate formations, acquisitions, and other transactions, partnership and LLC formation and operations. Stuart is a tax generalist, with experience in employment tax, international transactions and transfer pricing, federal state and local income tax, gift and estate tax, sales and real estate transfer taxes and a broad range of other tax areas. Stuart has also done tax controversy work including IRS and New York State income and estate tax audits and Tax Court cases.
Stuart’s Trust and Estates experience includes traditional estate planning, gift and estate tax planning, estate and trust administration, and some related estate litigation. Planning can be as simple as a Last Will and Testament and as complex as multiple revocable and irrevocable trusts, the creation of grantor retained annuity trusts, QPRTs, CRUTs, and family limited partnerships. Planning also includes succession planning for the owners and shareholders of closely held businesses.
Stuart has also become a counselor to many of his clients, advising individuals and businesses not only on tax aspects of proposed transactions but also revising transactions to meet the clients’ objectives.
Stuart clerked on the US Tax Court and has appeared before the US Tax Court, the IRS, and various state and local tax authorities.
Stuart serves on the Board of American Friends of Peace of Mind, Inc, which is the U.S. fundraising organization for Metiv, an Israeli non-profit that provides group and individual treatment for psychological trauma for both former combat soldiers and civilians in Israel and around the world.
