Through  a complex series of maneuvers involving real estate, bankruptcy, and corporate elements, a CTSW developer and investor client has secured a Brooklyn multifamily property under construction.

After this client made a mezzanine loan to the construction project several years ago, the project ran into trouble and entered bankruptcy. CTSW worked with the client to secure a stalking horse contract, win the bidding on the development, and close on the acquisition and financing of the project. CTSW’s client now owns the development, located on valuable property in Brooklyn, and construction will resume.

This deal, handled by Joe Vann, Larry Tauber, and Mai-Khoi Nguyen-Thanh, is the latest in the firm’s commercial real estate work, which frequently combines corporate, bankruptcy, and tax components in complex development and investment transactions.
