CTSW is pleased to announce its expansion of client services to include business immigration law and white collar defense. The firm is joined by attorneys Jo Anne C. Adlerstein and Shirley Tang and paralegal Dawn Caputo, formerly with Thelen, LLP, an international law firm. Jo Anne is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Shirley is a former INS Assistant District Counsel. Jo Anne, Shirley and Dawn have extensive expertise in the following capabilities:
- Procuring U.S. and foreign work visas and permanent resident status for corporate transfers, key executives, and individuals;
- Revising employment manuals to comply with U.S. immigration and anti-discrimination law;
- Developing immigration law compliance plans for contractors and manufacturers;
- Conducting immigration law due diligence for mergers and acquisitions;
- Counseling clients on I-9 and Labor Condition Application compliance requirements;
- Responding to administrative summonses, grand jury and trial subpoenas;
- Counseling criminal defense lawyers on immigration consequences of pleas and convictions;
- Advocating on behalf of clients facing removal and deportation proceedings;
- Representation of clients in all aspects of criminal proceedings.
CORPORATE
We are pleased to offer our immigration services to corporate clients. CTSW's immigration team will be able to guide you in navigating the myriad of immigration laws that affect the hiring of foreign nationals, the due diligence aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and the global transfers of key executives, managers and professionals. Increasingly, corporations are required to comply with regulations imposed by DHS, ICE, and SSA. Our Immigration Group will ensure that you are and continue to be compliant with the requirements of these agencies.
LITIGATION
We are also pleased to expand our existing litigation services to include:
- Handling of state and federal administrative summonses and grand jury subpoenas;
- Defense of enforcement actions brought on by the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and response to the Social Security Administration's "No Match" letters.
- Representation of clients contacted or called as witnesses, or themselves under investigation for alleged violations of federal criminal law, including tax fraud and defense procurement fraud.
The new team, Jo Anne and Shirley, will work closely with CTSW attorneys, including our partner, Sari Kolatch, a former Assistant District Attorney, and Ginnine Fried.
REGULATORY
Over the years, Jo Anne and Shirley have defended clients in regulatory investigations brought by the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Office for Special Counsel for Unfair Immigration-Related Employment Practices. Jo Anne has extensive expertise in cases involving the Internal Revenue Service, Federal Trade Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, Postal Inspection Service, Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, Office of Thrift Supervision, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Federal Aeronautics Administration.
TAX
In addition, we also are able to expand our existing tax practice to include the defense of criminal tax investigations, prosecutions and IRS administrative summonses. Jo Anne C. Adlerstein, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey and Criminal Tax Coordinator for the District, began her career in the Tax Group at Sullivan & Cromwell and has lectured and published extensively in the field on criminal tax investigations and defense.
ENTERTAINMENT
CTSW is pleased to announce the expansion of its Entertainment Law Practice to include U.S. immigration counseling for international performers, sports teams, restaurateurs, radio personalities, and advertising agencies. Our immigration team have developed immigration strategies for pop stars, actors, performing artists, the Montreal Expos, a NYC D.J. and employees of media and advertising agencies.
